Regular Council STAFF MEMO Meeting: Regular Council - Jan 13 2022 Staff Contact: Jeremy Allen, Village Manager Department: Manager Review Applications and Appoint Members to the Community Vision and Master Plan Charrette Host Committee The Village of Tequesta engaged the services of the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council to obtain public input, conduct a public design charrette, analyze potential redevelopment strategies, and provide recommendations for maintaining the desired community scale and character of the Village of Tequesta. As part of the process, the Village requested residents* to serve on the Charrette Host Committee. . The committee will typically meeting weekly (time TBD) during the six (6) weeks prior to the charrette (tentatively scheduled for April 2022) to assist with the following: • Secure location for public charrette • Secure location for design studio • Assist with organization and advertising of all public events (in coordination with the Village Clerk) • Create flyers and other forms of advertisement (in coordination with the Village Clerk) • Serve as a link to inform and educate residents • Recommend charrette boundaries • Select local caterer for all public events • Identify stakeholders for one -hour interviews two weeks prior to charrette (three -to -six days of one-on-one interviews between design team and stakeholders (up to 20 interviews) • Review preliminary charrette results • Attend all public presentations of the master plan • Champion the plan through the adoption process Applicants (applications attached) as of 1/4/22: • **James Hackett (current member of the Planning and Zoning Board) • Alexandra Cotleur • **Liz Schauer (current member of the Planning and Zoning Board) • Sean McNulty • Ann Marie Embick • Victoria Shparber • Patrick C. Regardless of the status of the host committee, if 2 P&Z Board Page 142 of 488 Agenda Item #10. members are participating with that on matters that will foreseeably come before the P&Z Board for action, that is a clear Sunshine Law problem for them." I have been an active resident since living here for over 35 years. I remember when Tequesta Park was a gem 35 years ago. A very active Park. The Village needs to come up with a plan that will help developers know what the Village wants their home to look like. We need to use more of the mixed use on the US One Corrider and we need to come up with a plan for the future development on Beach Road. Interest Take -away: As a new(ish) Tequesta resident, I want to get more involved with the Community, Tequesta's government and the various departments that it's comprised of. I see the Host Committee as a great first step to get involved and meet other Village residents and staff to become better acquainted with the "heartbeat" of our Village. Additionally, in my role as Vice President of a large construction company and my previous role as a real estate attorney, I've participated in several charrette's and enjoy, understand and appreciate the process. Through this participation, I've personally witnessed how a properly conducted charrette can contribute to the success of any community effort.
