BUSINESS FORUM MEETING
VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FL
OCTOBER 26, 2021 2:00 PM COUNCIL CHAMBERS
CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL
The meeting was called to order by Village Manager Jeremy Allen at 2:00 p.m.
Present were:
Amy Angelo, Vice -Mayor Kyle Stone, Village Recreation and Business Relations Coordinator
Tessa McKay, Village Manager Jeremy Allen, and Village Clerk Lori McWilliams.
AGENDA ITEMS
1. Introduction of Tessa McKay, Recreation and Business Relation Coordinator
Manager Allen introduced Tessa McKay as the Recreation and Business Relations
Coordinator. He highlighted her multiple years and experience with the Village and her
goal of increasing communication with the local businesses.
2. Discuss Communication Avenues
The forum discussed the lack of involvement from local businesses. Amy Angelo of
Oceana Coffee announced a local Facebook page she started, but interaction had been
limited. A discussion took place regarding the sharing of social media posts to reach
maximum exposure and viral status.
Manager Allen shared Ms. McKay's goal of reaching out to businesses and introducing
herself as the main point of contact as the Recreation and Business Relations
Coordinator. He also discussed a potential invitation to businesses before the opening of
the Recreation Center.
3. ShopVOT and Sidewalk Sale Preliminary Planning
Shop VOT dates would align with Small Business Saturday and run through December.
Consensus was a November 27, 2021 start date with final receipts deadline of December
19, 2021 and a grand prize drawing on December 20, 2021.
The Village would allow sidewalk sales during Small Business Saturday and throughout
the Shop VOT campaign.
A donation list from the previous events would be utilized to secure prize donations.
The tag line of "Gateway to the Parks and Arts" was also discussed for this years event.
Ms. McKay would be able to distribute information on the Shop VOT and Sidewalk Sales
when visiting and emailing businesses.
4. Working Together to Mitigate Bridge Closure
The Forum discussed a resident for a day pass for non-residents. The pass would allow
access to the Recreation Center and events if the person had a receipt for a purchase
made that day from a Village business. There was an additional idea of providing local
businesses with a certain number of passes. The passed would allow Village business
employees access to the Recreation Center and events for a day. The passes would be
distributed to the Village business once their business tax was paid.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 2:36 P.M.
