With Council direction/consensus staff can track or take a stance on additional bills. Amber Hughes Update: • HB 777(Robinson) Local Tax Referenda Requirements — Oppose — HB 777 will be heard today, January 24, at 1:00 p.m. in the House Ways & Means Committee. This is the second of three committee stops in the House. • HJR 923(Fischer) Ad Valorem Tax Exemption and HB 1503(Fischer) Implementing Bill — Oppose — Both bills will be heard on Tuesday, January 25 at 9:00 a.m. in the House Local Administration & Veterans Affairs Subcommittee. This is the first of three committee stops in the House. • SJR 1746 (Brodeur) Homestead Property Tax Exemption and SB 1748(Brodeur) Implementing Bill — — Both bills will be heard on Tuesday, January 25 at 3:30 p.m. in the Senate Community Affairs Committee. This is the first of three committee stops for both bills. David Cruz Update: • Update:HB 985(Beltran) Sovereign Immunity —Oppose— HB 985 passed out of the House Civil Justice & Property Rights Subcommittee (16-1) on January 19. The next committee stop is the House Appropriations Committee. The Appropriations Committee is not scheduled to meet this week. • HB 1411 (Avila) Floating Solar Facilities — Oppose — HB 1411 will be heard on Tuesday, January 25 at 1:00 p.m. in the House Tourism, Infrastructure & Energy Subcommittee. This is the first of there committee stops in the House. • SB 1808(Bean) Immigration Enforcement — — SB 1808 will be heard today, January 24, at 3:00 p.m. in the Senate Judiciary Committee. This is the first of three committee stops in the Senate. Jeff Branch Update: • SB 1702(Bradley) Mandatory Building Inspections — — SB 1702 will be heard on Tuesday, January 25 at 3:30 p.m. in the Senate Community Affairs Committee. SB 1418(Albritton) PFAS/Soil and Groundwater Contamination — Support — SB 1418 will be heard today, January 24, at 3:00 p.m. in the Senate Environment and Natural Resources Committee. This is the first of three committee stops in the Senate. Update:SB 280(Hutson) Local Ordinances —Support— SB 280 passed out of the Senate Rules Committee (14-2) on January 20. The bill was significantly amended and is now supported by FLC. The next stop for SB 280 is the Senate Floor. The House companion bill, HB 403 (Giallombardo), has two more committee stops. The League expects the House bill to be amended to line up with the Senate bill. Attached to this email is a copy of the SB 280 as amended. Click HERE to view FLC comments on the amendment to SB 280. Update:SB 620(Hutson) Local Government/Business Damages —Oppose—SB 620 passed out of the Senate Appropriations Committee (11-7) on January 20. The next stop for SB 620 is the Senate Floor. The House companion bill, HB 569 (McClure), has two more committee stops. Watch for a FLC Update email and FLC Legislative Alert email on SB 620. Tara Taggart Update: • HB 105(Fine) Regulation of Smoking by Counties and Municipalities — Support —HB 105 will be heard on Tuesday, January 25 at 9:00 a.m. in the House Professions & Public Health Subcommittee. This is the first of three committee stops in the House. FLC sent out a Legislative Alert TODAY asking you to contact legislators on the House Profession & Public Health Subcommittee to vote in support of HB 105. Click HERE to view the Legislative Alert. • HB 1435(Leek) Code and Traffic Enforcement — Suppon — HB 1435 will be heard on Tuesday, January 25 at 1:00 p.m. in the House Criminal Justice & Public Safety Subcommittee. This is the first of three committee stops in the House. • HB 9241(Giallombardo) Cyber Florida Local Government Infrastructure and Technical Assistance — Support — HB 9241 will be heard on Tuesday, January 25 at 1:00 p.m. in the House State Administration & Technology Appropriations Subcommittee. This is the first of two committee stops in the House. Additionally staff recently asked to begin tracking House Bill 349, SB 198. • SB 198 as of 1/20/22 is in the Community Affairs committee after passing Environment and Natural Resources 3-2 • HB 349 in Agriculture and Natural Resources Appropriations Subcommittee.
