Re: Florida Resource Management Plan Amendment for the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse
Outstanding Natural Area (ONA)
The Florida Resource Management Plan Amendment for the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse ONA on a
lot people's radar right now. Changes may be in the works for these lands if the public comment
window reveals that people want change. The scoping period started on January 21, 2022 and
closed February 21, 2022. Comments received after midnight on February 21, 2022, will be
considered secondarily and only those with substantive information that may alter the analysis will
be included in the final document. If we have anything substantive it would be worth writing to
get them on the record.
You can learn more about the plan at the following link:

appear after the map.
Only Lots 15 and 16 are located in Tequesta. Lot 15 was designated as the Jupiter Inlet ACEC,

Agenda Item #4.
In the Jupiter portion south of Beach Road, the Loxahatchee River Historical Society wants to
lease land for a new facility.
The preliminary issues for the totality of the lands in question are:
o Cultural Resources — They could be disturbed
o Historic Structures - There is wealth of maritime and military history to be protected
o Special Status Species — Consideration of potential impacts to these species and habitat is
necessary.
o Native Habitats & Wildlife — Consider the impacts to these biological resources and serve
to protect, preserve, or enhance
o Scenic Values (Visual Resources) — Scenic values from key observation points must be
taken and the action must serve to protect
o Human Health and Safety - Safety of visitors and staff is paramount.
o Recreational Resources - Recreation is one of the core values for the site.
