Council Approval to Sponsor the 11 th Annual Tequesta Chili Cook -Off and Beer Tasting Event
Members of Tequesta Fire -Rescue, in conjunction with The Friends of Public Safety, are requesting
permission to proceed with the 11 th Annual Chili Cook -Off and Beer Tasting Event and fundraiser. The
charitable organizations we will be working with this year are Southeast Florida Honor Flight, Inc.,
Operation 300, The Renewal Coalition, and Wounded Veterans Relief Fund. Twenty percent of the
funds raised will be donated to each charity, and the remaining twenty percent will be retained by the
Tequesta Friends of Public Safety to be utilized in its mission to provide support to the Tequesta Public
Safety personnel in their times of need, and to continue their maintenance of the 9/11 Memorial
Fountain.
The event location is still undetermined, but the event will take place on November 12th, 2022 from
2pm-6pm. We will be bringing a stage for live entertainment, 10 to 12 port -a -potties, tables and chairs
for approximately 3,000 people, and 40 10x10 folding tents for 25 participating teams and corporate
sponsors. There will be an Aerial Truck extending its boom to drape the American Flag overhead to
honor our fallen heroes, veterans, and active military personnel in attendance.
On the day of the event, we request the assistance of the On -Duty crew to set-up and breakdown the
event if they are available to do so. Given the nature of the event, On -Duty personnel may be needed
to assist in some of the operations and logistics, as it is their duty to ensure overall safety. Our requests
will not interfere with the daily operations of the department. All firefighters working the event will be
Off -Duty. We will hire the required number of Police Officers, and Fire Personnel as is recommended
for the event.
