We have exhausted the functional lifespan of these units and it has become very difficult to maintain the operational status of the current laptops for our fire department. The new proposal will include a vehicle docking solution that should extend the life expectancy of the new tablets. We did attempt, unsuccessfully, to find funding for this purchase last budget year. There was overlap with existing funding requests from the fire department and as such, we could not proceed with the purchase. This project is quoted off government contract and is budgeted in the current fiscal year.
