HomeMy WebLinkAboutDocumentation_Regular_Tab 9D_4/27/1989 e ",, RESOLUTION NO. 9-88/89 A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, URGING SUPPORT FOR THE MEPCO CENTRAL LABS, INC. REQUEST FOR A TRAFFIC LIGHT TO ACCOMMODATE ITS NEW WORKFORCE AND ANTICIPATED TRAFFIC CONGESTION RESULTING FROM THE DESIRED INCREASED WORKFORCE. WHEREAS, traffic increases daily in the area of Indiantown Road between Central Boulevard and Alternate AIA; and WHEREAS, necessary Indiantown Road expansion improvements will be delayed by virtue of financial constraints experienced by the Florida Department of Transportation; and WHEREAS, MEPCO CENTRAL LABS, INC. a local employer located within the aforesaid area of Indiantown Road is scheduled to increase its current workforce by three hundred workers in the near future; and WHEREAS, the MEPCO workforce comes from surrounding areas and communities and thus will utilize the Indiantown Road corridor as its principal avenue to its workplace; and WHEREAS, the increased traffic resulting from the increased workforce of MEPCO as well as the new automobile dealership located on the northside of Indiantown Road from MEPCO presents a safety concern to commuters and residents of the area. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of Tequesta, Florida: Section 1. The appropriate officials at the Florida Department of Transportation are urged to support the installation of a traffic light located at the intersection of Indiantown Road and the entrance to the MEPCO Central Labs, Inc. parking lot to accommodate the new workforce and alleviate the traffic congestion that will result from the increased workforce. Section 2. Governmental Officials at the local, County and State level are encouraged to coordinate with MEPCO Central Labs, Inc. as to its traffic needs in that such coordination between the public and private sectors will stimulate economic development in the Jupiter, Tequesta and northern Palm Beach County area. Section 3. The Village Clerk is hereby directed to provide copies of this Resolution to the appropriate persons within the Town of Jupiter, Palm Beach County, Florida Department of Transportation, MEPCO Central Labs, Inc. and State Legislators James Hill and Senator Doc Myers for consideration of the matters contained herein. THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION was offered by Councilmember , who moved its adoption. The Resolution was seconded by , and upon being put to a vote, the vote was -as follows: - 2 - FOR ADOPTION AGAINST ADOPTION The Mayor thereupon declared the Resolution duly passed and adopted this day of , A.D. , 1989.
