FAX: (407) 575-6203 MEMORANDUM: TO: Village Council FROM: Thomas G. Bradford, Village Manager DATE: March 3, 1989 SUBJECT: Permanent Appointment of Carl Roderick as Chief of Police As you know on August 11, 1988 the Village Council accepted my recommendation that then Captain Carl Roderick be appointed as Chief of Police on a six month trial basis. The six month trial basis has ended and I have completed an Executive Performance Evaluation of Mr. Roderick. All in all, Mr. Roderick has satisfactorily completed those items requested of him at the time of his temporary appointment. Mr. Roderick is a dedicated and hard worker whose decisions are always based upon that which is best for the Village of Tequesta and the well-being of the personnel under his command. Additionally, we have spoken at length about the need to approach the concept of Public Safety with an open mind should the Village ever decide to move in this direction. Mr. Roderick assures me that he will do the same and carry out the policy directives of the Village Council relative to any matter. Finally, it is of significant importance to note that as Mr. Roderick has developed a management style associated with his administrative tenure, I am happy to report that this is a true team approach to management and problem resolution which, in my opinion, is the most viable way to successfully operate any organization. For these and other reasons, it is my recommendation that you permanently appoint Carl R. Roderick as the Chief of Police for the Village of Tequesta retroactively effective on February 11, 1989.
