Consider for Approval Draft Correspondence from the Mayor to Potential Operators in Support of a
New Gourmet Grocery use in the C-2 Zoning District.
Ownership of Tequesta Shoppes has requested approval draft correspondence from the Mayor to
potential operators in support a new gourmet grocery use in the C-2 Zoning District. The letter will be
used in efforts to recruit gourmet grocery to the Village of Tequesta. .

The Village of Tequesta is home to an energetic, sophisticated, engaged and
growing population that enjoys the convenience of local amenities and "upscale" options
for retail and other commercial uses. The Village is currently without a "gourmet
grocery" use, and Village residents must travel 20 minutes south to PGA or Northlake
Boulevards, or 30 minutes north to Stuart, in order to find this type of establishment.
The Village's C-2 Community Commercial Zoning District is intended to provide
opportunities for the development of commercial activities such as a gourmet grocery
store, that serve the community at large and that provide a mixture of convenient goods
and services with a greater variety of uses than that which is permitted at the
neighborhood level. The Village's C-2 Community Commercial Zoning District is located
primarily along the Village's U.S. Highway 1 corridor, and also has additional limited
locations along Tequesta Drive and Bridge Road near U.S. Highway 1.
Given the dynamic and growing population of Tequesta, and the current lack of a
gourmet grocery store in the Village, I would encourage you to explore opportunities
that may be available at properties within the C-2 Community Commercial Zoning
District, and especially along the Village's U.S. Highway 1 corridor, for the
establishment of a gourmet grocery store to serve the Tequesta community. I would be
happy to discuss this idea further, and provide more detail regarding the wants and
