HomeMy WebLinkAboutDocumentation_Regular_Tab 8C_1/26/1988 RESOLUTION NO. 5-87/88 A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA, ESTABLISHING PROCEDURES AND DESIGNATING POLLING PLACES FOR THE MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD MARCH 8, 1988. WHEREAS, the Village Council adopted the uniform filing and election dates as adopted previously by the Legislature of the State of Florida (House Bill 742) , designating the second Tuesday in March as the uniform election date for any election relating to a municipal office; and designating a filing period for candidates for any municipal office in Palm Beach County from noon on the last Tuesday in January through and not later than noon on the second Tuesday in February of the calendar year; and WHEREAS, Section 2.01 of the Village Charter provides that Councilmembers shall be elected at large to seats 1, 3, and 5 in the even years; and WHEREAS, the municipal election is being held in conjunction with the Presidential Preference Primary, and the Village Council of the Village of Tequesta desires to designate polling places for the municipal election, designate members of the Canvassing Board for the Municipal Election, and designate the time and place for holding the (L&A Test) Logic and Accuracy of the tabulating equipment prior to the election, and designate other election. procedures. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the polling places for the 1988 municipal election shall be the Village Hall, 357 Tequesta Drive, Tequesta, Florida, for registered voters of Precinct No. 2, and the Jupiter-Tequesta Junior Citizens Building, 399 Seabrook Road, Tequesta, Florida for registered voters of Precinct No. 14. The polls shall be open from 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. the day of the election. Section 2. The County Canvassing Board consisting of a County Court Judge, the Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners, and the Supervisor of Elections is designated as. the Canvassing Board for the 1988 Tequesta Municipal Election. Section 3. The time and place of the (L&A Test) - Logic and Accuracy test, of the tabulating equipment will be held prior to the election on Friday, March 4, 1988, at 10:00 A.M. at the tabulating center located at the Palm Beach County Governmental Center, 301 North Olive Avenue, West Palm Beach,, Florida, and the Supervisor of Elections or her designee is designated to represent the Village of Tequesta at the L&A Test. Section 4. That the tabulation of the ballots cast in the 1988 . municipal election shall be tabulated by the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections or her designees, and the Supervisor of Election shall provide the Village Council with certificates of the results of the election. Section 5. The Supervisor of Elections or her designees shall administer the absentee voting procedures in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 101, Florida Statutes, as amended for the Village of Tequesta Municipal Election. 7 - 2 - Section 6. The Municipal Village Clerk shall be the Clerk of the Elections, and shall supervise the conduct of the election in accordance with the applicable Statutes of the State of Florida, and the Charter and Code of Ordinances of the Village of Tequesta. Section 7. The Village Clerk shall certify the results of the election to the Village Council and shall furnish each candidate elected with a certificate of their election. Section 8. The Village Manager or his designee shall provide a copy of this Resolution to the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections upon its passage. THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION was offered by Councilmember , who moved its adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilmember and upon being put to a vote, the vote was as follows: FOR ADOPTION AGAINST ADOPTION The Mayor thereupon declared the Resolution duly passed and adopted this 26th day of January, 1988.
