HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_Special Meeting_4/13/2023MINUTES SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING MEETING VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FL APRIL 13, 2023 6:00 PM COUNCIL CHAMBERS CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL The meeting was called to order by Mayor Molly Young at 6:00 p.m. A roll call was taken by Village Clerk Lori McWilliams. Present were: Vice -Mayor Laurie Brandon, Council Member Frank D'Ambra, Mayor Molly Young, Council Member Patrick Painter, and Council Member Rick Sartory. Council Member Laurie Brandon attended via Zoom. APPROVAL OF AGENDA AGENDA ITEMS 1. COUNCIL OATHS OF OFFICE Seat 2 - Molly Young Seat 4 - Patrick Painter Seat 5 - Rick Sartory Village Clerk Lori McWilliams administered the Oaths of Office to Mayor Molly Young, Council Member Patrick Painter, and Council Member Rick Sartory. 2. VILLAGE COUNCIL REORGANIZATION Mayor 1. Call for Nominations 2. Election Vice -Mayor 1. Call for Nominations 2. Election Village Attorney Keith Davis opened the floor to nominations for Mayor. Council Member Frank D'Ambra nominated Mayor Young for another term as Mayor. Mayor Young accepted the nomination. MOTION: Attorney Davis called for a vote on Council Member D'Ambra's motion to appoint Mayor Young as Mayor for the 2023/2024 term, Council Member Rick Sartory seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously 5-0. Attorney Davis opened the floor for Vice -Mayor nomination. Mayor Young nominated Council Member Laurie Brandon for Vice -Mayor. Council Member Brandon accepted the nomination. MOTION: Attorney Davis called for a vote on Vice -Mayor Laurie Brandon's nomination as Vice -Mayor for the 2022/2023 term. Motion carried unanimously 5-0. 3. COUNCIL REMARKS - Mayor - Vice -Mayor - Council Members Mayor Young thanked Council for another year as Mayor, congratulated Vice -Mayor Brandon, and welcomed the new Council Members. Council Member D'Ambra also welcomed the new Council Members. Council Member Painter was excited to be a part of Council and ready to serve the community. Council Member Sartory recognized his family and thanked the Village for the recognition of their families as well. He was excited to serve the community, ready to listen to resident input, and work with Council. Vice -Mayor Brandon was excited to work with a full Council and ready to serve as Vice - Mayor. Citizen Comments: • County Commissioner Maria Marino welcomed Council Members Painter and Sartory, was excited to see Mayor Young serve another term, and offered advice to all Council. • Mr. Blair Shrader of 597 N. Cypress Drive welcomed the new Council Members. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 6:15 PM. MOTION: Council Member D'Ambra made a motion to adjourn the meeting; Council Member Sartory seconded the motion. Carried unanimously 5-0.
