Discussion And Consideration On Artwork In The Crosswalks.
Prior to Mr. Johnson leaving Council he brought up the idea of painting the crosswalks throughout the
Village. Staff has done research on what it would take to paint crosswalks in the Village and provided
the information for discussion and direction from Village Council.
Painting A Crosswalk:
• The Village would contract with a local artist to perform the work
o Estimated $2000 per panel plus supplies and any other cost associated.
• Our Paint Vendor has a product (Clear Resin) that could be applied over the Mural. Cost Approx.
$1,500.00
• The Product is a straight resin (no body, no color) and it would create a durable coating to protect
the mural.
• The Clear coating will slightly yellow in the sun. It's not designed to be UV stable. It won't
degrade, but it will over time slightly yellow.
• Probably won't degrade enough that anyone will notice, but it's important to know the applied
coating won't stay flawlessly clear.
• To address the friction rating (anti -slip) we can add a GRITT Product over the top immediately
as we roll on the clear coating.
Other Considerations:
• Road Closed 2-3 to allow Mural to Dry - (PD Support)
• PW to apply Clear Coat and Grit
• Insurance
• Community Involvement
