TEQUESTA PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES OF MEETING NOVEMBER 1 4 , 1 9 8 8 The Tequesta Planning Commission held its meeting on Monday, November 14, 1988 at 7:30 P.M. , in the Village Hall, 357 Tequesta Drive, Tequesta, Florida. Old Business: 1 ) Entry medians at U.S. Highway One. Chairman Jacobs is hoping that the Village will get the project started. The Committee recommended to clean up the median as soon as possible. 2) Jim Pilz reported that the 707 project was approved by the Village Council, and $500.00 was approved and added for next year' s budget, as well as two wells for 1989. The project will include Route 707 to the bridge. Approval included Floratam with water, palm trees, and a few flower beds, which expenses will be shouldered by the Village of Tequesta. Phase II will begin after Phase I has been completed. ENTRY SIGN. - The Chairman discussed the drawings for the project. Gee & Jenson recommended a side entrance and no signs for center. Jim Pilz stated that the Planning Commission should have a joint meeting with the Community Appearance Board and Tom Bradford, Village Manager, on Monday, to discuss the signs and that the Planning Commission's first choice would still be to have signs in the center. If the majority feels, however, that the two corner signs would be more satisfactory and acceptable to citizens of Tequesta, there will be many questions to ask concerning the proposed signs of each side of the entrances. DRAWING NO. 1. - Jim Stergas was closest to what they started out with. Still will draw attention to Step-Saver when looking at that wall and sign. if Tequesta Planning Commission Minutes of Meeting November 14, 1988 Page 2 - DRAWING NO. 2. - Planters may create problems. DRAWING NO. 3. - Room for additional plantings behind the wall, less green space in front. Mary Corr, Vice-Chairman, prefers having a concave wall. Suggesting that there would not be enough room for trees behind it otherwise. Alfred DeMott was not in favor of Drawing #1 or # 2 (nothing original. ) Should be a little ornate. Eloda Tangney said it should curve with the road. Fred Elsaesser was in favor of a curved wall. Six members were in favor of item #3. Pilz was not in favor of any of them. He does not see the need for sign to read "Village" . Chairman Jacobs feels this should be something special and not ordinary; entry walls to any community should be more creative. NEW BUSINESS - Mary Corr suggested the Planning Commission establish a Beautification Bank Fund so that organizations could make donations for shrubs and flowers. Questioned whether or not there was a Landscape or Improvement Fund for the Village of Tequesta? Jim Pilz stated we would need seed money for future projects for real estate that is not moving. It was decided that a Workshop meeting should be held to discuss long range planning for the two shopping centers. Chairman Jacobs suggested that a developer should be contacted to attend the meeting to see what can be done. Chairman Jacobs sent a letter to Mr. Bradford regarding the same. It was suggested that Ed Nelson and a representative from MacArthur Foundation Company be invited to the next meeting. There being no other business to be discussed, the meeting was adjourned at 10:00 P.M. Respectfully submitted, Attetr lfred S. DeMott Acting Secretary . Note: - Read to Dr. Jacobs before expediting.
