TEQUESTA PLANNING COMMISSION
MINUTES OF MEETING
SEPTEMBER 12, 1988
The . Tequesta Planning Commission held its meeting on Monday,
September 12, 1988 at 7:30 P.M. in the Village Council Hall Council
Chambers, 357 Tequesta Drive, Tequesta, Florida.
Present were: Dr. Stanley B. Jacobs, Chairman; Alfredo S. DeMott,
Secretary; Eloda Tangney and James Stergas, members.
The , minutes of August 10, '1988 meeting were approved with the
addition in Jim Pilz 's name as being present.
Old Business
The entry medians continue to be on hold. The U.S. 1 Queen Palm
Tree planting should be completed by the end of September. Chairman
Jacobs would check stakes and see if additional top soil would be
added.
Jim Pilz was on vacation in Europe. He sent a letter to Chairman
Jacobs on the status of Government Air Force property, enclosing a
drawing showing where signs would be placed. Mr. Pilz felt he would be
able to receive donations from Jupiter Island residents toward this
project.
Status of Tequesta Plaza
A new real estate office and a barbershop to open this month next
to the old Publix. The Wreck Marine Museum is interested in renting a
space in this building, however, it the consensus of the Planning
Commission members that it is not good for the Village or the Plaza
to have the Wreck Marine Museum occupy the building. The Water
Department stated on that color of water should have been tested by
the Water Department before the pool was filled up with new water.
A 36 unit condominium is under study on the Beach Road. However,
this is not covered by zoning, as yet.
Chairman Jacobs requested some comments on a change in the sign at
the entrance of Tequesta Drive site. A wall sign at each corner was
recommended , by Gee & Jensen. Chairman Jacobs felt that the backdrop at
night of . the Step Saver would not be a good view. It is suggested
that both corners need electricity, however, there are no submitted
plans to date. It is the consensus of the Planning Commission that
unless plans are submitted to the Committee, we have a clearance to
study before we would make a new recommendation to the Village
Council. Also, the number of trees along Tequesta Drive to Old Dixie
may be too many and the cost of the project is of concern.
