HomeMy WebLinkAboutDocumentation_Regular_Tab 7A_9/29/1988 i Iril RESOLUTION NO. 16-87/88 A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE ARTS IN TEQUESTA AND URGING EVERY TEQUESTA CITIZEN TO BE COGNIZANT OF THE IMPORTANCE OF COMMUNITY CULTURAL DEVELOPMENT AND URGING THE TEQUESTA COMMUNITY TO PROMOTE AND SUPPORT THE ARTS. WHEREAS, the people of Tequesta have always been closely associated with various artistic endeavors since the inception of the Village; and WHEREAS, this close association between the arts and the people of Tequesta is evidenced by the location of the Lighthouse Gallery within the boundaries of Tequesta, this being the cultural center for all of northern Palm Beach County; and WHEREAS, Tequesta's citizens have benefited greatly from its proximity to cultural and artistic activity; and WHEREAS, this community benefit has been derived from various art exhibits and programs including cultural films, book reviews, musicals, travelogues, lectures and demonstrations; and WHEREAS, many of the cultural and artistic activities emanate from various not-for-profit organizations and corporations supported primarily by membership dues and donations. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA; Section 1. The Village Council of Tequesta, Florida commends the artistic community of Tequesta for its everlasting impact on the cultural development of this community. Section 2. The Village Council urges all Tequesta citizens to recognize the invaluable betterment of our community through cultural development by virtue of the location of the various arts within Tequesta. Section 3. All citizens of Tequesta are urged to support the various artistic endeavors within Tequesta by way of promotion and support both morally and financially to ensure the continued viability of the arts in Tequesta for the enrichment and betterment of our community. THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION was offered by Councilmember who moved its adoption, The Resolution was seconded by Councilmember and upon being put to a vote, the vote was as ffllows: I FOR ADOPTION AGAINST ADOPTION The Mayor thereupon declared the Resolution duly passed and adopted this day of , A.D. , 1988.
