Bradford, Village Manager Village of Tequesta, Florida Mr Bradford At this point in time , the police department has a Dictaphone model 4000 logging recorder machine that is on loan from Palm Beach County. This machine records all police radio transmissions and 9-1-1 emergency calls on twenty four hour reel to reel tapes that are stored for a period of thirty one days and then reused,. We have had this machine for seven years, it is big and space consuming and also loud enough to be annoying to the dispatchers who sit right in front of it for eight hours a day. This year the County E.M.S. has received funds through a special phone tax , to furnish these machines to all departments and to replace the ones that need it . Ours needs to be replaced. Having reviewed materials on new models of recorders from Dictaphone and a new company called Florida Electronics, Inc . , I feel that that the J.E. I .' ' system from Florida Electronics, Inc . would suit our needs best as it is half the size of the other machines and is quiet running. The recording is done by cassette tape and the storage space would be cut down by 90%. These tape recording machines will record all incoming calls on the front desk phones as well as 9-1-1 lines and the radio transmissions. The attached list of equipment numbered one through twelve , is the equipment we intend to purchase for a total price of $9,774.50. The proposal has already been approved by the D.E.M.S. including yearly maintenance on the recorders which will be paid by the D.E.M.S. each year . The procedure will be for the Village to order and pay for the equipment and then submit the paid bill to the D.E.M.S. They in turn will reimburse the Village within thirty days ( see attached letter ) . The equipment can be installed within thirty days of order and should be paid for at that time to expedite the reimbursement . This logging equipment has nothing to do with the 9-1-1 ANI/ALI equipment that is being strictly handled by the D.E.M.S. and Southern Bell Co.
