Thomas G. Bradford , Village Manager
Village of Tequesta, Florida
Mr Bradford
The Division of E.M .S . has ordered the ANI/ALI 9-1-1 equipment for our police
department per our request and expect to have it ready to install by June 1st
of this year . The $40 ,000 worth of equipment plus $10,590 worth of yearly
maintenance is being paid by the Division of E .M .S . , however there are special
requirements for the installation of this equipment that we must cover.
The equipment requires a dedicated electrical line served from a 230V, 60Hz ,
single phase 60 AMP service . It also requires private lines- for the phone
service itself . This means that that we have to install this utility at Village
expense and will require a two foot trench dug from the rear of the police
station to the rear of the garage area where the electric meter and the phone
junction box rooms are located . I recommend we lay three or four conduits at
that time (only two will be used at this point , one for phone, one for
electric) and the other spares for future use .
The equipment itself will be installed against the west wall of the dispatch
area between the captains office and main hallway. Due to the already cramped
working conditions , this is the only space available. The equipment will have
to be safe guarded from damage by building some sort of partition around it .
The location is close to the jail cell hallway where rowdy prisoners are
brought back and forth to the squad room, fingerprint area and any scuffle
might cause damage to the delicate machines
To operate the equipment , Southern Bell engineers advised that the service
should be connected to a emergency electrical source to keep the 9-1-1 system
going during sure times of emergency such as hurricanes, etc . where power is
usually knocked out . This is going to be problem because the emergency
generator that we now use is only a 30 amp service and is almost at full
capacity now when in use. We have four routes to go, one is to install .a new,
higher amperage generator to cover all the power needs, or two install . a new
second generator just to cover the 9-1-1 equipment , or three, hook the -9-1-1
system up to the old generator and hope for the best , or four, hook the system
up direct which would loose 9-1-1 capabilities during a power failure.

This is the work that must be completed by the Village prior to June 1st when
we are scheduled to have the ANI/ALI 9-1-1 equipment installed.
The cost (per Conner Electric Co.) for running the necessary conduit and wires
plus the switch boxes and plugs , etc . will be as follows :
Price of 2" conduit run @ $93.00 ea . from the rear of the garage area to the
base of the police department building . We need two runs and should install an
extra while the ditch is open .
TOTAL = $279.00
Price for cutting the driveway from the P.D. building to the front of garage.
TOTAL = $310.00
Price for digging ditch from P.D. building to rear of garage after driveway is
cut . (this could be eliminated if the maintenance dept dug the ditch) .
TOTAL = $460.00
Price for wire , switch boxes etc . and installation .
TOTAL = $1440.00
Total for Conner Elec . Co. to do work is $2489.00
Total if we dig ditch and they install is $2029.00
