Town of Tequesta

Tequesta, Florida 33469
Dear Tom:
Thank you for taking the time to discuss with me the First United
Presbyterian Church's sewer. As you know, we 'd like to proceed
with the work to tie the new sewer into the property on the north
side of Tequesta Drive which we recently purchased . However, it
is my understanding that the town has a policy against "open
cutting" of Tequesta Drive. Since it will add a substantial
sum to the cost of this installation, I 'd like to request relief
on behalf of the church from this policy.
Our engineer, Michael B. Schorah and Associates, estimates that
the additional cost ,of boring the roadway will be some $10,000 or
more. Additionally, our contractor, H&T Contractors, Inc. ,
indicates that boring on grade as is required for a gravity
sanitary sewer line is very difficult, if not impossible. The
problem is that the exact pitch which is normally controlled by a
laser for accuracy, cannot be guaranteed in a jack and bore
installation. Therefore, because of the exorbitant additional
cost and the fact that the installation may not be acceptable
once completed , we respectfully request that we be allowed to
open cut the roadway.
Since you indicated this decision would not be made by you, I
hereby request that this item be placed on the earliest Village
Council agenda for discussion. Again, thank you for taking the
time to discuss this with me and I hope you and your Council will
be sympathetic to the Church's position.
Sincerely yours,
R. Mason Simpson
