FROM: Gary Preston, Director of Public Works & Recreation DATE: February 18, 1988 SUBJECT: Bids for Dover Road & Elm Avenue Storm Sewer Repairs As you are aware, on February 16, 1988, the Village received bids for the Dover Road and Elm Avenue Storm Sewer Repairs. Over the past several months, the joints on the eliptical concrete pipe have cracked and thereby allowed soil to drop into the pipe causing depressions in seven yards on Dover Road and Elm Avenue. The work to be performed would include: 1 ) - Exposing the joints 2) Dewatering 3) Pouring a concrete collar around each joint 4) Driveway repairs 5) Replacing existing sods and vegetation The bids received are as follows: Company Days to Complete Work Amount * Four Jay's Construction Juno Beach, Florida 60 to 90 Days $39, 800.00 Rosso Paving & Drainage, 60 to 90 Days $55,000.00 Inc. Lake Worth, Florida I have enclosed a letter from Gee & Jenson recommending that we accept the low bid from Four Jays ' s Construction. The Village allocated $49,000 in the 1987-88 budget for engineering fees and repairs for this project. From past experience in dealing with Four Jay's Construction we feel that they are capable of handling this project. Upon the Village' s acceptance, we will proceed with the preparation of contract documents. If you should have any questions, please don' t hesitate to call.
