Regular Council STAFF MEMO Meeting: Regular Council - Sep 14 2023 Staff Contact: Mayor Molly Young Department: Council Proclamation Recognizing Florida City Government Week, October 16 - 22, 2023 in the Village of Tequesta The Village Manager requested staff to participate in this year's Florida City Government Week which runs October 16-22, 2023. Individual departments will be participating in one or more of the following ways: National Night Out a. Friday, Oct 6 — 5:30 pm — 8:30 pm b. We are participating in National Night Out with a photo booth. We will get pics and video of residents holding signs that say things like #VOTPROUD, love Tequesta, My paradise, and various business logos... and so on so forth. We will record short snip it videos of residents saying what they love about Tequesta. The Clerk's Office will format all of this into a video to put out on social media and on our website and submit it to the Florida League of Cities. 1. "Adopt -a -Class Reading and Crafts": We are partnering with Good Shepherd on Tuesday, October 17th where various departments will read to classes. This document and any attachments may be reproduced upon request in an alternative format by completing our Accessibility Feedback Form, sending an e-mail to the Village Clerk or calling 561-768- 0443. WHEREAS, city government is the government closest to most citizens and the one with the most direct daily impact upon its residents; and WHEREAS, municipal government provides services and programs that enhance the quality of life for residents, making their city their home; and WHEREAS, city government is administered for and by its citizens and is dependent upon public commitment to and understanding of its many responsibilities; and WHEREAS, city government officials and employees share the responsibility to pass along the understanding of public services and their benefits; and WHEREAS, Florida City Government Week offers an important opportunity for elected officials and city staff to spread the word to all citizens of Florida that they can shape and influence this branch of government; and WHEREAS, the Florida League of Cities and its member cities have joined together to teach citizens about municipal government through a variety of activities. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the Village of Tequesta encourages all citizens, city government officials and employees to participate in events that recognize and celebrate Florida City Government Week. Section 2. That the Village of Tequesta encourages educational partnerships between city government and schools, as well as civic groups and other organizations. Section 3. That the Village of Tequesta supports and encourages all Florida city governments to actively promote and sponsor Florida City Government Week.
