The wet down and push in ceremony dates back to the 1800's and the era of horse-drawn equipment After crews retumed from a call, the animals were unable to back into the station, requiring members to detach the horses, wash the wheels and push the equipment into the bay. Today, Tequesta Fire Rescue and the Tequesta Police Department launched " Operation Safe Start". Firefighters and Police officers visit area bus stops, speak with children and parents about bus stop safety and light up the bus stops for all early morning drivers to see.
