Construction Contract for the RO Concentrate Main Conflict Related to the FDOT US1 Bridge, Not to Exceed $73,899 SUMMARY: The Utilities Department (UD or Utilities) recommends approval of a contract with Johnson and Davis, main and two planned FDOT stormwater structures for their US1 Bridge Replacement Project. The cost is not to exceed $73,899 and they will only bill us for what is expended. This was an unanticipated conflict that FDOT did not find in their initial review of the project of potential utilities conflicts and must be addressed as soon as possible in order to avoid delays in the US1 Bridge Pr construction. The funds for the project will come from the Water Fund, Account 401-411-663.600, Improvements Other Than Buildings. Yes N/A Page 78 of 384 Agenda Item #6. COMMENTS/EXPLANATION ON SELECTION Construction was required immediately to avoid delays with the FDOT US1 Bridge Replacement Project. If the Village caused delays, we could/ would be subject to daily delay claims by the US1 construction contractor and/ or delay the completion of the project and re-opening of the bridge. It is important from a public safety standpoint to get the bridge open as soon as safely possible to allow access by fire rescue and police vehicles responding to calls.
