MINUTES
ENVIRONMENTAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE (EAC) MEETING
VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FL
SEPTEMBER 13, 2023 2:00 PM VILLAGE COUNCIL CHAMBERS
CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL
The meeting was called to order by Chair Thomas Bradford. A roll call was taken by Deputy Clerk
Mary Ann Grieser.
Present were:
Chair Bradford, Member Michelle Shearouse, Member Russ Redman, and Member Clay Damon.
Member Freese and Vice Chair Namath attended via Zoom.
Absent was:
Member Wenta.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
MOTION:
Member Redman made a motion to approve the agenda; seconded by Member Damon. Carried
unanimously 6-0 (absent: Member Wenta).
COMMUNICATIONS FROM CITIZENS
Mr. Jay Hubsch Village Community Development Director introduced himself and looked forward
to working with the Committee.

MOTION: Regular Member Seat 5 Redman made a motion to approve the Consent
Agenda as presented. EAC Member Damon seconded the motion. Carried unanimously
6-0 (absent: Member Wenta).

Committee Member Shearouse updated the group on her findings related to LEED. Her
update included information on ratings, indoor environmental air quality, lighting, safety,
airborne toxins, certifications and commercial and residential tax incentives. She would
look into incentives that may be useful to the Village and meet with Mr. Jay Hubsch,
Community Development Director.
Committee Member Freese addressed viable grants and believed three (3) were able to
be useful to the Village. He was unsure if there was a matching component to the grants.
Chair Bradford contacted the Loxahatchee River District and was waiting to hear back from
them regarding energy savings. Additionally, there was no new information on
perchlorates.
Member Redmond had no new information on natural shorelines.
Member Damon had no new updates to the recycling initiatives. He did clarify that there
was recycling going on at Tequesta Park. Manager Allen relayed that the county did not
have recycling at Coral Cove and that it had been unsuccessful in the past
3. Update on BLM Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area (ONA) National
Public Lands Day on September 23, 2023
Vice Chair Namath offered an update on the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) event
scheduled for September 23, 2023. Numerous organizations would be hosting booths and

service projects. The Village EAC was looking for volunteers at tents and tables; in addition
to help with clean-up efforts. Volunteers should arrive at 7 am that morning. Vice Chair
Namath would drop by the Village to pick up the supplies for the event.
