RE: Teen Advisory Council Meeting/Senior Citizen Advisory Council
At the Regular Council Meeting of November 8,2001,Resolution 9-01/02,regarding setting up an ad
hoc Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee,was passed unanimously. At that time,the
consensus of the Council approved for this agenda the addition of a proposed Resolution for a
Teen Advisory Council as well as a proposed Resolution for a Senior Advisory Council. The
aforementioned items follow for your consideration.

A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF
THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH
COUNTY, FLORIDA, ESTABLISHING A COMMITTEE
TO THE VILLAGE COUNCIL TO BE KNOWN AS THE
TEEN COUNCIL ADVISORY COMMITTEE;
ESTABLISHING ITS PURPOSE; PROVIDING FOR
ITS MAKEUP; AND ESTABLISHING THE TERM OF
ITS EXISTENCE; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the Village Council of the
Village of Tequesta deems it desirable to
establish a productive advisory committee on
youth needs, services and programs; and
WHEREAS, the Village Council desires
to establish a Teen Council Advisory
Committee for the purpose of collecting input
from the youth of the Village with regards to
bringing the information to the Village
Council ; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE
COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH
COUNTY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Village Council hereby authorizes
the formation of an advisory committee to be known
as the Teen Council Advisory Committee . The
specific purpose of said Committee shall be to
serve as an advisory committee to the Village
Council on matters relating to:
1 . Recommended equipment needs and
budgeting considerations for the
Village' s Parks & Recreation program.
2 . To provide recommendations, suggestions
and assistance with youth events for
Village-sponsored festivals and
programs .
3 . To organize and perform service
projects which benefit the Tequesta
community.
4 . To serve as an Advisory Board for
issues related to youth that the
Village Council wishes to delegate to
the Tequesta Teen Council for its
consideration.
Section 2 . The Teen Council Advisory Committee
shall consist of seven (7) members, aged 13 to 19,
all of whom shall be residents of the Village.
Applications to the Committee will be available to
all citizens, and the Council shall select and
ratify seven (7) members from the applicants at a
Village Council meeting.
Section 3 . Of the Teen Council Advisory
Committee' s seven (7) members, three (3) shall
serve a term of one (1) year, and four (4) for the
term of two (2) years from and after their
appointment . The Teen Council Advisory Committee
member' s term shall end in August following
completion of his/her senior year in high school .
Their successors shall be appointed for the term
of two (2) years from and after the expiration of
their terms of their predecessors in office .
Section 4 . The Teen Council Advisory Committee
shall meet as frequently as determined by the
Committee; and
Section 5 . The Teen Council Advisory Committee
shall be dissolved at the will of the Village
Council .
Section 6 . This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon passage .
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION WAS OFFERED by
Councilmember , who moved its
adoption. The motion was seconded by
Councilmember , and upon being
put to a vote, the vote was as follows :
FOR ADOPTION AGAINST ADOPTION
The Mayor thereupon declared the Resolution duly
passed and adopted this day of , A.D,
2001 .
