Testing Costs
Pending Change No. 2- Revised (P.C. #2R)
Dear Mike:
On November 20, 2001,we submitted a request for a change order establishing a testing
allowance for the referenced project. You responded by saying that the owner was only
obligated to pay for the testing associated with specification section 02200 Earthwork.
While there is another specification section 02201 for"Earthwork Buildings",the two sections
are almost identical in every way. In fact, section 02200 makes several references to
building related work(Refer to paragraphs 1.1A, 3.2.A.5, 3.3.A.1 and 3.5.C.1 as
examples).
We estimate that all testing for the project will run in the neighborhood of$4,000 to$5,000.
Given the specification language and the fact that neither the owner nor contractor allowed
for the cost of testing,we respectfully request that a change order be approved in the
amount of One Thousand Five Hundred Dollars($1,500.00) (or approximately one third of
the estimated cost).

Dear Mike:
We are in receipt of the memorandum from J.Casey Long to Brian Tavares,outlining a
modification to the west wall of the apparatus bay foundation. We have priced this work
assuming a wider footing and the addition of three courses of 12"block with filled cells.
The Det price increase for this change is Two Thousand Seven hundred Thirteen Dollars
<5913.00). We further request that the contract time be increased by one(1)day.
Attached please find a cost break down for this work. Please review and let me know if ybu
have questions or require further information.

Dear Mike: ,yqQ
We offer to install a temporary automatic gate at the west driveway for the sum of Four N-
Thousand Seven hundred Thirty Four Dollars ($4,734.00). We further request that the
contract time be increased by zero(0)days.
Please note the following qualifications:
1. The gate is a cantilever style gate and includes four transmitters. (The vendor
says a rolling style gate would not be any cheaper.)
2. The gate and operator are new. (No market for used equipment.)
3. We assume the owner will remove and take possession of the gate at the
completion of Phase I of the project. The cost of removal is excluded from our
price.
Attached please find a cost break down for this work. Please review and let me know if you
have questions or require further information.

minus twenty-five percent contractor incentive for value engineering. I believe this is in line
