Bradford, Village Manager From: Gary Preston, Director of Public Works 4d-D r - Date : April 1, 1998 Subject: Village Council Agenda Item for April 9, 1998; Consideration to Award Tequesta Recreation Center Improvements to Carrere General Contractors, Inc. , in the amount of $92, 837, with a 10% Contingency to be Set Aside As you are aware, on September 17, 1997, the Village received bids for improvements to the Tequesta Recreation Center. These improvements included: new restroom facilities, YMCA office with air conditioning, welcoming counter, storage area, classroom space and fire wall protection. The low bid received on September 17, 1997, exceeded the amount allocated for the project . At that time, we agreed to reconsider the project after the Village audit was completed in March 1998, to see what funds might be available for project completion. The recently completed audit report indicates funding would be available from the following sources: • FY 1998 Recreation Budget $22, 000 • Recreation Impact Fees 6,595 • Undesignated Fund Balance 73, 525 Total $102,120 On March 24, 1998, Project Architect Randolph Hansen contacted Mr. Jim Walter, Project Administrator, Carrere General Contractors, Inc . , and Mr. Walter agreed to honor the September 17, 1997 low bid for an additional thirty (30) days. I have also discussed possible Tequesta Recreation Center/YMCA opening dates with Mr. Robert Giese, President and CEO, YMCA of the Palm Beaches, and Mr. Giese advises the YMCA will be available to operate the facility on a full schedule beginning June 15, 1998 . Mr. Giese also advises that the YMCA will be prepared to open the facility on Saturday, June 13 for a "Grand Opening Event.
