Hall, Water System Manager Date: February 18, 1998 Subject: Purchase of Chlorine, Palm Beach County Co-Op Bid On February 10, 199.8, the Purchasing Division for the City of Boca Raton, acting as a lead agency for those participating in the Co-Op, obtained confirmation from the current Co-Op supplier, Jones Chemicals, Inc. , of a one year extension on 'our current contract. Additionally, Jones Chemicals also agreed to a price reduction to match the current market within the State of Florida. Jones Chemicals has agreed to decrease their price from the current $374 . 50 per, one ton to $350. 00 . The purpose of this bid is to establish a firm price per pound for Chlorine which is used for disinfection of water. Continuing to purchase Chlorine from Jones Chemicals, will provide us with continued prompt, and convenient service. Contract period will be from April 1, 1998 to March 31, 1999 . In light of the above, the Village of Tequesta Water Department is seeking authorization to purchase liquid chlorine from Jones Chemicals, Inc. , of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in the estimated quantity of 24 tons, costing $350 .00 per one ton, totaling $8,400 . . Funding for this expenditure will be provided by the Water Enterprise Fund, Pumping and Storage Division, Chemicals Line Item having an FY98 account balance of $35,276 . 00 . Please place this item on the Village Council Agenda of March 5, 1998, for approval. One Ton Cylinders:—Jones Chemical—Renewed with New Price Upon research of the market;pricing in tiro state of Florida, I found out that entities in Paint Beach County were paying more for Chlorine than other entities statewide. Based on this data, I requested that Jones chemical match the current market as allowed per the bid. Jones Chemical has:agrced to decrease their price from S314.50 per 1 ton , I cylinder to$350. 2.
