It is anticipated that part of these funds would be raised through assessments from the abutting property owners who would benefit by the relocation or placement of same underground. Therefore, Tequesta would not bear 100% of this cost. However, it is estimated that Tequesta will bear at least two-thirds of this cost. It is still possible that the FEC Railway will come to terms with FPL and, ultimately, allow for the transmission line to be placed on FEC property westward of the western Old Dixie Highway right-of-way. If this comes to fruition, then, perhaps, if the Village Council is so inclined to participate in the same, the Village Council may wish to participate in one of the three amounts so indicated above ($26,767; $27,984; $29,200) . It is recommended that the Village Council advise Jupiter that Tequesta must withhold agreement to cost participate in the remainder of this project until such time as it knows the full cost that it is faced with in dealing with the same transmission line in Tequesta. Jupiter should also be advised that in the event that Tequesta does not choose to expend funds for alteration of the transmission line in Tequesta, that Tequesta may contribute $27,984 for its estimated share for placement of the transmission line underground between Point 1 and Point 2 in Jupiter. JAN 3 0 1-'28 Village Manager's Office Mr.Tom Bradford,Village Manager Village of Tequesta PO Box 3273 Tequesta, FL 33469-0273 Re: FPL's Proposed 138 KV Transmission Line Crossing of the Loxahatchee River "A. Dear Mr. O ord: On the evening of January 28, 1998,the Jupiter Inlet District's Board of Commissioners moved to fund approximately $705,103 of the $1,268,376 needed to bury both the proposed 138 KV FPL transmission line and the existing distribution lines at the Loxahatchee River. Based on your office's continued support in our committee to prevent these aesthetic impacts on the river and adjacent historical sites,we are hopeful that the Village will be willing to also participate in funding this effort. To provide added detail on the basis of costs and the funding arrangements established to date, I have included several attachments for your review. At your earliest convenience, please reply regarding the Village's position on funding. The expiration of contractors' bids necessitates that we formalize our commitments within the next two weeks. Of course, should you have any questions in the interim, feel free to give me a call. Sincerely, Lee R.
