Subject: NAMAC Meeting
Date: December 4, 1997
Attached for your information is an issues subcommittee report distributed at the NAMAC
meeting today. Also discussed was the letter that I sent you recently from Director Riggs
concerning charges for dispatch services effective October 1, 1998. The resulting discussions
seemed to be more urgent and less political.
I think that it is important that we stay involved in these discussions and we need to be in a
position to vote in the proceedings. For this reason I am suggesting that Chief Weinand and I be
named as alternate representatives to NAMAC by the Village Council. One of us always attends
the meetings. Attached is a NAMAC roster which shows that this is a practice followed by many
member agencies.

Subj: Issues Subcommittee Report
At the last NAMAC meeting, I was tasked with heading a group to identify issues, alternatives
and recommendations regarding the issues. In addition to myself, the following persons were
asked to serve on the subcommittee:
•
Chief Jim Weinand
Chief Mike Wells
Chief Bruce Sekeres
Chief Jeff Lindskoog
Radio Expert Ernie Carr
The meeting was held on November 24, 1997 at the Juno Beach Town Center, and present were
Sekeres, Lindskoog, Carr and myself. The other members were unable to attend. At the meeting,
we attempted to identify several issues brought to the attention of the full NAMAC group, and
also decided on some recommended courses of action.
Please keep in mind that the numbers presented in this report come from the following
sources: professional experience and judgment, the feasibility study conducted by Mizelle,
Hodges and Associates, our own opinions, and best guesses. These figures are not etched in
granite and should be considered general guideposts, not final budgetary figures.
Listed is the issue followed by our recommendations.
