Subject: Annual Contract for Landscape Maintenance
On Sunday, September 28, 1997, the Village of Tequesta Water Department advertised a
"request for quotes" from Contractors regarding annual landscape maintenance of Water
Department properties. On October 15, 1997, these bid / quotes were opened, and the
attached tabulation summarizes quotes received. •
Based on the foregoing,we recommend award of our annual landscape maintenance to Rood
Landscape Company, Inc., of Jupiter, Florida in the amount of.$14,970. This new contract
amount represents a savings of$7,410 over last years contract.
Funding will be provided by the Water Enterprise Fund, Building and Facility Maintenance
line item, having an FY 98 budget amount of$25,500.
Please place this item on the Village Council Agenda of November 13, 1997, for Council
review and approval.

VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA WATER DEPARTMENT
SPECIFICATIONS FOR LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE
Annual Contract
All grass around walls,trees,bushes and fences shall be cut with a weed eater when grass areas
are cut.
All fence lines except those around well sites,may be sprayed with a herbicide. Fences shall also
be kept clear of weeds and vines from top to bottom.
All sidewalks, driveways,roadways, bedding areas etc., shall be edged at each cutting.
Grass clippings and other debris shall be removed from sidewalks,lawn areas, and pavement
areas promptly at each cutting. •
All hedges and plantings shall be trimmed as needed to maintain height designated by the owner.
All hedges and plant beds shall be kept clean and free of weeds as needed at time of cutting.
Removal of dead material from trees shall be performed as needed at each visit.
Any damage to irrigation systems, structures,plants, shrubs,and trees during performance of
landscape maintenance, shall be restored to the owners satisfaction at the expense of the
contractor.
Fertilization of lawns(sodded areas)and shrubs will be required four(4)times per year.
Lawns,trees and shrubs shall be sprayed as needed for fungus and insects at an additional cost.
Owner may contract with separate contractor for this service.
Contractor shall have General Public Liability Insurance pursuant to State Statutes naming the
Village of Tequesta as additional insured. Copies shall be supplied to the Village prior to
commencement of any work.
Contractor must be licensed in the Village of Tequesta
Owner reserves the right to cancel Purchase Order and/or Contract at any time without cause
after 30 days written notice to contractor.
Prior to submitting a quote, contractor must arrange with the Water System Manager a visit to all
sites listed on the attached RFQ.
