Regular Council STAFF MEMO Meeting: Regular Council - Feb 08 2024 Staff Contact: Lori McWilliams, Village Clerk Department: Village Clerk KrUwa Ministerial Notification of Time Capsule Placement at the Parks and Recreation Community Center Over the years, there have been rumors of a time capsule buried near the old Parks and Recreation building. While many had hoped to uncover it during the demolition of the old Parks and Rec building, fate had other plans. When a time capsule could not be located the Village Manager's Office (Jeremy Allen and Executive Assistant Debra Telfrin) and Clerk's Office team (Clerk Lori McWilliams, Deputy Clerk Mary Ann Grieser and Admin Asst. Diana Manali) worked to ensure a time capsule would be buried when the new Community Center was built and opened. In 2021, the Clerk's Office gathered items donated from residents and staff to fill the capsule with 2021 memories, treasures, and Village memorabilia. This time capsule will present a window to the Village's past when opened in the future. A list of items donated and included is attached. This capsule won't just fade away. We're making it official by documenting the burial in our Village's records and preserving an information file in our Historical Archives.
