Bradford, Village Manager ---75; DATE: February 5, 1993 SUBJECT: Resolution Expressing Support for a Major League Baseball Spring Training Facility in Northern Palm Beach County The Jupiter/Tequesta/Juno Beach Chamber of Commerce recently adopted a resolution supporting a spring training facility in Northern Palm Beach County and requested the Village to consider the same. The Town of Jupiter, on Tuesday, February 2, passed a similar resolution. For this reason, I have prepared the attached resolution for your consideration. TGB/krb . Attachment , Recycled Paper RESOLUTION NO. 5-92/93 A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR A PROFESSIONAL MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL TRAINING FACILITY IN THE NORTH COUNTY. WHEREAS, the. Village of Tequesta has been made aware of a countywide task force that is currently considering locations for professional baseball activity; and WHEREAS, the Village of Tequesta is supportive of the general location of such major league baseball professional sports activities in the North County area; and WHEREAS, the Village Council has been asked to express their position with respect to a professional baseball team locating in the North County area. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The Village Council of the Village of Tequesta hereby expresses its support for a professional major league baseball training facility in the 'North County area. Section 2. The Village of Tequesta believes such an `' addition to the North County area would enhance the quality of life and the economic viability of the region. Section 3. The Village of Tequesta will lend its hand in assisting, encouraging, promulgating and establishing a professional baseball team in the North County area to the extent that such a facility can be demonstrated to enhance the quality of life and the economic well-being of the Village of Tequesta and this region in general. Section 4. The Village Manager is, requested to forward copies of this Resolution to the Town of Jupiter, Jupiter, Tequesta, Juno Beach, Chamber of Commerce, the Town of Juno Beach and the Countywide Task Force referenced herein. THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION WAS OFFERED by Councilmember , who moved its adoption.
