SUBJECT: Connector Road; Resolution Requesting Modification of
Revocable Permit Issued to the Palm Glades Girl Scout
Council; Agenda Item
At the November 12 Village Council Meeting the Village Council, at
the suggestion of Mayor Collings, requested a Resolution similar to
that previously suggested to the Martin County Commission.
Therefore, pursuant to your request, attached hereto, please find
Resolution No. 1-92/93, requesting the State of Florida to modify
the Revocable Permit of the Palm Glades Girl Scout Council to allow
for the provision of the Connector Road.

A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE
:''':,LADE OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA,
REQUESTING THE STATE OF FLORIDA TO MODIFY THE
REVOCABLE PERMIT OF THE PALM GLADES GIRL SCOUT
• COUNCIL FOR USE OF STATE LANDS WITHIN JONATHAN
DICKINSON STATE PARK
WHEREAS, only a fraction of Section 14 located in Southern
Martin County and within the confines of Johnathon Dickinson
State Park designated for use by the Palm Glades Girl Scout
Council is actually used as a campsite; and
WHEREAS, it is in the interest of the health, safety and
welfare of the public to, ensure that the Connector Road,
interconnecting County Line Road with Country Club Drive in
Southern Martin County, be constructed without further delay;
and
WHEREAS, there are limited east/west and north/south routes
for hurricane evacuation; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Tequesta and many adjacent
communities are surrounded by water and are anticipated to be
flooded by a hurricane tidal surge; and
WHEREAS, the construction of the Connector Road would provide
an enhancement to the regional roadway network, improving
traffic and public safety concerns; and
WHEREAS, the Loxahatchee Council of Governments has
previously endorsed the construction of the Connector Road.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE
VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows:
Section 1. The Village Council of the Village of Tequesta
hereby petitions the State of Florida to amend the Revocable
Permit of the Palm Glades Girl Scout Council so as to ensure
that a portion of the land currently used by the Girl Scout
Council be allowed for use as a roadway improvement by way of
right-of-way dedication, easement or other means, so long as
such roadway improvement does not interfere with the existing
campsite of the Palm Glades Girl Scout Council.
Section 2. The Village Council of the Village of Tequesta
hereby endorses the construction of the Connector Road and
encourages all Member Governments of the Loxahatchee Council
of Governments to do the same.
Section 3. Copies of this Resolution shall be provided to

the Executive Director of the Loxahatchee Council of
Governments, the Board of County Commissioners for Martin
County, and the applicable Bureau of the State of Florida
Department of Natural Resources.
