MEMORANDUM : •
TO: Thomas G. Bradford, Village Manager r'v
FROM: Thomas C. Hall , Water System Manager
DATE: February 25 , 1992
SUBJECT: Vehicle Replacement
The Water Department in this year ' s budget , has planned for and .
allocated funds to replace our 1983 Chevrolet Pickup Truck . This
vehicle has in excess of a 100 , 000 miles and it has become too
expensive to find replacement parts as demonstrated this past couple
of years . Unfortunately, this vehicle is now deadlined with a
cracked head and awaiting to be designated as surplus and sold by
open bid.
We would like to, with Village Council approval , replace this
vehicle with a smaller mid-size truck. After checking State
Contract and local dealers, the following vehicles are available: .
STATE CONTRACT: Don Reid Ford, Maitland, FL. •
`19.92 Ford Ranger $8 , 054. 00
Tyrone Isuzu, St. Petersburg, FL. "
1992 Isuzu $7, 689. 85
LOCAL AREA Art Moran Auto Plaza, Lake Park, FL.
DEALERS : 1992 GMC $8, 373. 80
Al Packer Isuzu, West Palm Beach, FL.
1992 Isuzu • $8, 027.00
Al Packer Ford, West Palm Beach, FL.

RE: Vehicle Replacement

Page 2 - _
Based upon 1992 EPA Gas Mileage estimates and current fuel
consumption of Department vehicles , we would recover the $365 dollar
price differential between Ford and Isuzu in gasoline costs within
the five-year average life span of our utility vehicles .
Additionally , a Ford Ranger is slightly larger than an Isuzu and 90%
made in U. S .A.
I would like to purchase the 1992 Ford Ranger available on
State Contract and request this purchase be placed on the Agenda
for the March 26th Village Council Meeting for approval .
