Survey Area/Focus Takeaways from Natural Resources Survey
• Extensive seagrass beds within survey area -5 species found
3 of the 4 mangrove islands have experienced substantial erosion
and may risk total loss without intervention

tidal currents) likely cause of mangrove habitat deterioration
• Implementing wave attenuating structures could benefit mangrove
and seagrass communities by reducing erosional forces and
stabilizing sediments

Subject: Letter of Support for the Jupiter Narrows Conservation Alliance and the initiative to restore
mangroves and seagrasses in the Jupiter Narrows
To Whom it May Concern,
We are pleased to provide this letter of support for the initiative led by the Jupiter Narrows
Conservation Alliance to protect and preserve the environmental integrity of the Jupiter Narrows and
the surrounding marine environment. This initiative will ultimately help restore the mangrove islands
and surrounding seagrasses in the Jupiter Narrows.
(THIS SECTION CAN BE CUSTOMIZED):As representatives for the Village of Tequesta,we care deeply
about the communities and marine habitats that make our area special, especially within our
intracoastal waterways. Over the years, the mangrove islands within the narrows have provided vital
habitat for our favorite marine species, protected our shoreline from weather and wear, and helped
keep the water clean and healthy. But these crucial mangrove islands have recently suffered substantial
erosion due to human activity and increased wave energy. We risk losing them forever if we don't act
soon. By building upon current research and data from Taylor Engineering to inform effective
interventions,we can enact solutions that will have a real impact on the longevity of our shared marine
environment.
Other potential information to add:
• Personal anecdotes or connections to the narrows and its marine habitats
We believe this initiative led by the Jupiter Narrows Conservation Alliance will be transformative in
helping protect and maintain the vital mangroves and seagrasses that make Tequesta exceptional.
Sincerely,
