DATE: November 14, 1991
SUBJECT: Request for Approval of Purchase of Dicataphone E-9-1-1
Recording Equipment in the Amount of $22, 583.20; Consent
Agenda Item
On May 24, 1990, the Village Council adopted Resolution No. 10-
89/90, approving the Interlocal Agreement between Palm Beach County
and the Village of Tequesta regarding the enhancement and
maintainance of the E-911 Emergency Telephone Number System. This
is the program whereby each of us pays a monthly minimal fee on our
telephone bill which is collected by Palm Beach County for the
purpose of acquiring and maintaining E-911 emergency telephone
systems. Under the Interlocal Agreement, the Village is to purchase
the agreed upon enhancements and Palm Beach County reimburses the
Village for the acquisition.
Our current E-911 recording equipment has been declared ineligible
by the State of Florida. Palm Beach County has approved of the
acquisition of a Dictaphone Model 5082 and allocated funds for the
same. The cost of the new system is $22, 583.20, the funds for which
have been allocated in the Tequesta Police Department budget.
It is recommended that the Village Council approve the purchase of
the Dictaphone Logging Recorder referenced herein.

FROM: Carl R . Roderick, Chief of Police Ga
DATE: 10-30-91
SUBJECT: Purchase of Dictaphone E-9-1-1 recording equipment .
The present E-9-1-1 recording equipment supplied by J . E. I . in 1988 has
been declared ineligible by the state for E-9-1-1 systems . I have
requested and have been approved by Palm Beach County E .M. S . to
purchase a Dictaphone model 5082 logging recorder and model 5900
instant play back unit to replace the J . E. I . machines . The cost for
the new system is $22 ,583 .20 which will be reimbursed by the county.
Please have this item approved by council at the next available
meeting . Attached are information sheets and dictaphone invoice . The
Dictaphone package is one of several on state contract but we feel
that Dictaphone is the equipment best suited for our department from
past experience and the amount of police agencies using the equipment .
