Bradford, Village Manager 7477 DATE: July 11, 1991 SUBJECT: Resolution No. 27-90/91; Supporting the Loxahatchee Council of Governments' Application for Funding From the Florida Inland 'Navigation District for Assistance Under the Florida Inland Navigation District Waterways Assistance Program; Agenda Item COG is interested in carrying out an Environmental Boating Education Program in a joint effort with the Palm Beach County School Board and the Marinelife Center of Juno Beach for the education of citizens of Palm Beach and Martin Counties and the State of Florida. Financial Assistance is available from the Florida Inland Navigation District and COG is seeking funding from the District. This appears to be a worthy undertaking by COG, and as such, Staff recommends .approval of endorsing this application by approving Resolution No. 27-90/91. TGB/krb Attachment • • • Recycled Paper RESOLUTION NO. 27-90/91 A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE LOXAHATCHEE COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS ' APPLICATION FOR FUNDING FROM THE FLORIDA INLAND NAVIGATION DISTRICT (FIND) FOR ASSISTANCE UNDER THE FLORIDA INLAND . NAVIGATION DISTRICT WATERWAYS ASSISTANCE PROGRAM. WHEREAS, the Loxahatchee Council of Governments is interested in carrying out an Environmental Boating Education Program in a joint effort with the Palm Beach County School Board and the Marinelife Center of Juno Beach which is directed at educating school age children as to the ecology and environment within which they live; and WHEREAS, the Loxahatchee Council of Governments is seeking financial assistance for this program from the Florida Inland Navigation District (FIND) as evidenced by the COG Resolution adopted on or about May 20, 1991 requesting FIND provide financial assistance for preparing the "Environmental Boating Education Program"; and WHEREAS, the Village of Tequesta is a member in good standing of the Loxahatchee Council of Governments and supportive of their endeavors to educate citizens about the unique environmental issues of our area. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of Tequesta, Palm Beach County, Florida, that: Section 1. The Village of Tequesta endorses the Loxahatchee Council of Governments' development of an Environmental Boating Education Program and the Council 's application to FIND for funds necessary to develop the educational program. Section 2. The Village Clerk is hereby directed to provide a copy of this Resolution to the FIND, Loxahatchee Council of Governments and the Marinelife Center of Juno Beach. THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION was offered by Councilmember , who moved its adoption. The Resolution was seconded by Councilmember , and upon being put to a vote, the vote was as follows: FOR ADOPTION AGAINST ADOPTION The Mayor thereupon declared the Resolution duly passed and adopted this day of July, 1991.
