MEMORANDUM:
TO: Village Council
FROM: Thomas G. Bradford, Village Manager
DATE: May 30, 1991
SUBJECT: Draft Village of Tequesta Newsletter Editorial
Policy Statement: Agenda Item
At the Village Council Meeting of May 16, the Village Council
requested that a Newsletter Editorial Policy Statement be
prepared for Village Council review primarily for the purpose of
setting guidelines for items which will be accepted for
inclusion within the Newsletter. The first action that we took
was to contact each municipality in Palm Beach County to
determine if they had a newsletter and, if so, what was their
policy in this regard. Of the 34 municipalities contacted, 22
;have a municipal newsletter. Of the 22 municipalities having
newsletters, 17 allow for municipal business only to be
included. Of the remainder, 3 cities allow the inclusion of
community affairs of interest to all with another city allowing
inclusion of items from non-profit organizations and one
allowing for items from co-sponsors of municipal events which
must be affiliated with municipal business.
With this in mind, and using some samples provided to us from
Mr. Collings, we have prepared the attached Newsletter Editorial
Policy Statement for your review and discussion at the Village
Council Meeting of June 6, 1991.
