ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
PUBLIC HEARING MINUTES
DECEMBER 1 7 , 1 9 9 0
I. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL
The Village of Tequesta Zoning Board of Adjustment held a
regularly scheduled Public Hearing at the Village Hall , 357
Tequesta Drive, Tequesta, Florida, on Monday, December 17,
1990. The meeting was called to order at 7: 30 P.M. by
Chairman, William Kirkland. A roll call was taken by Fran
, Bitters, the Recording Secretary. Boardmembers present were:
Kenneth W. Northamer, Alfred DeMott, James Van Wagner, and
John P. Turner. Newly appointed alternate Edwin J. Nelson
was also in attendance. Also present were: Scott D. Ladd,
Clerk of the Board and John C. Randolph, Esquire, Village
Attorney.
II. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
The Agenda was approved as submitted. Chairman Kirkland
pointed out to. the Board the commitment of Mary Louise Nolen
at the last meeting, who attended to complete a full forum,
despite the fact she was desperately ill. She has since
passed away. Her commitment to the Zoning Board of Adjustment
was greatly appreciated.
III. APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES (Zoning Board of
Adjustment Meeting Minutes, August 21, 1990) .
Boardmember DeMott moved to approved the above-referenced
Minutes as submitted. Boardmember Van Wagner seconded the
motion. The vote was:
John Turner - for
James Van Wagner - for
Alfred DeMott - for
William Kirkland - for
Ken Northamer - for
the motion was passed and adopted.

IV. NEW BUSINESS
A. The application of Louis Tyrell of the Burt Reynolds
Institute for Theatre Training, Inc. on behalf of Gay
Timon, owner of Lots 1 and 2, Block 1, Jupiter in the
Pines Section "C", located at 304 Tequesta Drive,
requesting a variance to the terms of the Official
Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance of the Village of
Tequesta, Ordinance No. 355, as amended, Section VIII,
Off-Street Parking Space Requirements, to provide forty
(40) parking spaces on-site for several combined uses.,
in lieu of. fifty-four (54) parking spaces as required by
the Zoning Ordinance.
, Louis Tyrell, Producing Director of the Burt Reynolds
Institute for Theatre Training, Inc. appeared before the Board
to request a variance on parking at 304 Tequesta Drive.
Scott Ladd, Clerk of the Board, stated there was
correspondence in the file in- support of the above-referenced
variance, but not in objection to it. Supportive of the
variance were Ricker Alford, Jr. , property owner within 300
feet, and Hoff Electric, the Broedell office building at 357
Cypress Drive, and Jan Smith Executive Office Building at 308
Tequesta Drive with an agreement for parking use.
Chairman Kirkland asked Mr. Tyrell if the Institute would be
willing to hire an officer to direct traffic during
performance nights in order to avoid traffic problems at that
location. Mr. Tyrell concurred.
Boardmember Turner moved to . approve the application for
variance. Boardmember Northamer seconded the motion. The
vote was:

James Van Wagner - for
Alfred DeMott - for
William Kirkland - for
Ken Northamer - for
the motion was passed and adopted.

There was no unfinished business.
VI. ANY OTHER MATTERS
There were no other matters before the Board.
VII. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 7 :47 P.M.
