RESOLUTION NO. 05-24 A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE GRANT OF APPROPRIATIONS TO FUND IMPROVEMENTS AT TEQUESTA PARK; PROVIDING RATIONALE TO MAINTAIN SUCH LEGISLATIVE FUNDING WITHOUT A VETO; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES WHEREAS, Tequesta Park is a regional park that is owned by the State of Florida; and WHEREAS, the Village of Tequesta, through a long term agreement with the State of Florida, leases Tequesta Park and has assumed operational and maintenance responsibilities for Tequesta Park; and WHEREAS, the lease management plan approved for the Village of Tequesta by the State of Florida contemplates that Tequesta Park will be used for both active and passive recreational activities including but not limited to organized youth and adult baseball and basketball, and nature trail walking; and WHEREAS, Tequesta Park is physically located in Martin County and as such serves residents and visitors to both Martin County and northern Palm Beach County; making it a truly regional park; and WHEREAS, pursuant to its agreed to obligations relative to Tequesta Park, Tequesta recently funded significant sewer and stormwater improvements to Tequesta Park through its association with the Loxahatchee River Environmental Control District; and WHEREAS, a recent resident led coalition assisted the Village Council and staff in creating a Tequesta Park Master Plan for improvements to existing Tequesta Park facilities which was approved and adopted by the Village Council in 2023; and WHEREAS, The Village of Tequesta has, for the past two legislative sessions, supported the grant of appropriations to fund improvements at Tequesta Park, which would, if approved, help protect and maintain an important state land asset. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. The above recitals are declared to be true and correct and are incorporated herein by reference. SECTION 2. The Village Council supports the grant of appropriations to fund improvements at Tequesta Park. Having recently adopted a Tequesta Park Master Plan for park improvements, such funding would be spent in accordance with the vision of the 1 Martin and Palm Beach County residents who benefit from this important state land asset. The Tequesta Park Master Plan concept is depicted on Exhibit A to this resolution. SECTION 3. The Village Manager is directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Palm Beach County Legislative Delegation, the Florida House Budget Conference Committee, and to the Village's lobbyist for further distribution as appropriate. SECTION 4.
