Accepting a • Change Order Reduction in the Amount of $199,089. Enclosed, please find the following: • Bidder Tabulation Sheets • Seabrook Road Engineering Plans • Recommendation for Award of Bid The Bid opening for the above referenced was on November 12, 1996. The Low Bidder was A.K.A. Services of West Palm Beach. Since the low bid was in excess of the available funds, we would request to sequence the construction in the following manner: 1) Construct Seabrook Road in its entirety from Willow Road South to the intersection of Tequesta Drive; including all underground utilities, curb and gutter, sidewalk and paving. The cost for this portion will be $250,000. Monies to complete this project is available from the Capital Improvement Fund and the Water Department Enterprise Fund. 2) Construct Tequesta Drive Storm Drainage from Seabrook Road westerly to Short Street. Construct the new outfall at Shay Place. Correct the existing Storm Pipe along Seabrook Road from the intersection of Tequesta Drive south, one block to Beacon Street. Overlay Seabrook Road from Tequesta Drive south to Dover Ditch. In order to complete this project in a timely manner with our budgetary constraints, we • request the Council consider awarding the contract to A.K.A. Services for the total amount of $449,089., contingent upon A.K.A. Services allowing a reduction in the initial contract amount of $199,089., this will allow us to complete Sequence No. 1. ✓ a Thomas G. Bradford December 5, 1996 Page 2 - We further request the Council consider allowing us to negotiate Sequence No. 2 with A.K.A. Services during the construction of Sequence No. 1. This will allow us to be assured there are no major change orders to Sequence No. 1 and that, the $45,000. grant money requested from F.E.M.A. is in fact available. At such time as monies are available to complete Sequence No. 2 (most likely in March 1997), we propose coming before the Council for approval of the Change Order to commence construction of Sequence No. 2. Following is the itemization of cost of Sequence No. 2 and where the money may be available.
