' ` adults lack essential literacy skills; and ' N\(r WHEREAS, 40% of children in the fourth grade do not test at grade level in M `• -= reading; and - �\�.�..���. WHEREAS, THE PALM BEACH COUNTY LITERACY COALITION seeks'to promote the -. , "� (( learning of basic reading, writing, English, and mathematic skills and to .i� . - engage in programs to further literacy within our County; and �Q ,,..., WHEREAS, elementary school children and staff all over Palm Beach County •-� • 'yri;'. will be celebrating International Literacy Day on September 8 wearing READ _' =4 WITH ME'stickers; and Sftg `��``,p,,-• WHEREAS, many businesses will be competing in the Coalition's "Great ,w Grown-Up Spelling Bee" on September 20 to raise literacy awareness; and _13 '• 45, WHEREAS, The Literacy Coalition is asking each individual in the Village of Tequesta to initiate or renew the reading habit; and 1 �� p '!-• • WHEREAS, as part of the America Reads Challenge, The Literacy Coalition is -��.,, (• l• asking each parent in the Village of Tequesta to read with their child 30 `-,�gg • minutes a day. .
