Public Works and Recreation Director Preston commented
that he, and Steve Parker had worked on this project,
for which this Board had approved plans that would be
presented at the next Village Council meeting for their
approval. He explained that the project would begin
during the first part of April when residents would be
notified of the types of trees planned to go in front
of their houses and the irrigation would be started.
Container plants would be used, and the project was
scheduled for completion sometime in May. Mr.
Preston explained that the project would consist of
planting 27 live oaks, 11 Queen palms, 6 Sabel palms,
and 9 bottle brush trees, and that changes would be
made on site as recommended by Boardmember Steve
Parker, taking into account the wishes of the
residents. Mr. Preston stated that he would come
before the Board with any problems that might arise
such as a resident who wanted to change the type of
tree, to be planted in front of his house.
2) Arbor Day Tree
Director of Public Works and Recreation Preston
informed the Board that he and Boardmember Parker
recommended that a Golden Rain Tree be planted as the
Arbor Day Tree to be planted during the Arbor Day
ceremony to be held April 28, 1995, at, 10:30 A.M. at
the Village Green Park. The tree would replace the
Yellow Tabebuia which had died, and would be planted
very close to the new sign. Boardmember Maitland
suggested possibly giving free plants to increase
attendance.
Boardmember Dollen made a motion to approve the plan to
plait a Golden Rain Tree on April 28, 1995 at 10:30
