To: Joann Manganiello, Acting Village Manager/Village Clerk
From: Gary Preston, Director of Public Works & Recreation /a
Date: August 2, 2000
Subject: Village Council Agenda Item for August 10, 2000;
Consideration of a One (1) Year Contract Extension for
Lawn and Landscape Maintenance for Area "B" to
Terracon Services, Inc., in the amount of $46,288, Subject
to Funds Being Appropriated in FY 2001, Having a Total
Proposed FY 2001 Budget Allocation of$46,288
In 1998, the Village advertised for Lawn and Landscape Maintenance Bids for Area "B" which
includes the Village Hall Site, Dover Ditch, Parks, retention ponds and certain right-of-way areas
west of Old Dixie Highway. Terracon Services, Inc. was the low bidder for Area "B" and was
awarded a two (2) year contract which will expire on September 30, 2000. Thd original 1998
contract allows for successive one (1) year renewals and an increase to the contractor based upon
the Consumer Price Index (CPI). During the past two (2) years, the CPI has increased 5.1%.
On July 28, 2000, I met with Mr. Joe Baglia, Terracon Services, Inc., and we reviewed the
contract and the proposed 5.1% increase. After that meeting, Mr. Baglia provided me with the
attached letter agreeing to a one (1) year contract extension and the proposed 5.1 CPI increase.
Both Josef Grusauskas and I have reviewed the contractual services provided by Terracon
Services Co., Inc., and we would recommend the Village Council award a one (1) year contract
extension for Area "B" in the total amount of $46,288. The contract would begin October 1,
2000 and run through September 30, 2001.
The project location, new contract extension yearly amount and department receiving
services are listed below:
Area "B"
Item No. Location Amount Department
1. Village Hall Site and Village Green Park $13,181 Public Works & Recreation
2. Seabrook Road $ 5,045 Public Works

5. Russell Street Retention Pond $ 1,072 Stormwater
