Regular Council STAFF MEMO Meeting: Regular Council - Dec 12 2024 Staff Contact: Marjorie Craig, Utilities Director Department: Utilities immr Consider Approval of Bobcat Compact Excavator E35 25HP R2-Series from Doosan Bobcat North America (Bobcat of Palm Beach) for $59,138 The Village of Tequesta's Utilities Department (UD) recommends approval of the purchase of a Bobcat compact excavator E35 25HP R2 Series from Doosan Bobcat, North American (Bobcat of Palm Beach) for $59,138 leveraging the Florida Sheriff's Association contract. Before fiscal year 2025, the UD recognized the need to replace the existing 2007 Takeuchi TB125 Compact Excavator (excavator). The excavator supports the services and activities provided by the Water Distribution/ Stormwater Division and Production Division (at the water treatment plant), including water main break repairs, replacement of fire hydrants, system valves, and fittings. To ensure the lowest possible price, staff recommends purchasing the excavator through the current Florida Sheriff's Association/Florida Association of Counties contracts awarded to various vendors including Doosan Bobcat North America (Bobcat of Palm Beach). This selection by the Sheriff's Association & Florida Association of Counties was completed through a competitive selection process — FSA23-EQU21.0: Equipment. The full piggyback agreement can be viewed by contacting the Utilities Department. During the FY25 budget approval process, the Village Council approved $60,000 to be used for the purchase of an excavator. Through the Sheriff's Association & Florida Association of Counties' bid, the Utilities Department obtained a price of $59,138 to purchase one Bobcat Compact Excavator E35 25HP R2-Series. In addition, the Village Council granted approval for the Finance Department/UD's request to surplus the existing excavator, which will be sold at auction.
