Workshop STAFF MEMO Meeting: Workshop - Mar 03 2025 Staff Contact: Doug Chambers, Director of Public Department: Public Works Works Public Works Department Annual Update - Capital Roadway and Sidewalk Improvement Projects The purpose of this Workshop item is to provide the Village Council with an update on the Public Works Department's Capital Roadway and Sidewalk Improvement Plans. I. Roadway Resurfacing Improvement Projects — FY2025 The Public Works Department has developed a comprehensive Five-Year Road Improvement Plan. Roads are evaluated and incorporated based on the following factors: • Age of the road • Wear and tear from traffic and weather conditions • Impacts of underground utility defects or projects • Traffic patterns and volume Road conditions are reassessed annually to determine priority improvements. The following roads have been identified for milling and paving in FY2025. No underground utility projects are planned in these areas that would cause delays. Recommended Roads for Milling & Paving in FY2025: Country Club Community • Fairway East • Fairway West • Golfview Drive (nine manhole adjustments only) Bayview Estates • Bayview Road • Bayview Terrace • Bayview Court • Shady Lane Tequesta Pines Community • Buttonwood Circle • Beechwood Trail • Birch Place • Chestnut Trail Procurement & Contract Details The Village of Tequesta is utilizing the Palm Beach County Roadway Contract for Pathway and Minor Construction Services through a piggybacking agreement with Wynn & Sons Environmental Page 19 of 46 Agenda Item #2. Construction Co., Inc. This contract is valid through March 14, 2026. Wynn & Sons has submitted a proposal for the roadway improvements based on established contract pricing. • Proposed cost for roadway improvements: $ (to be finalized) • Funding source: R&M Roads Account 303-210-546.350 II. Sidewalk Improvement Project— FY2025 As part of ongoing infrastructure improvements, the Village has implementing a Sidewalk Improvement Project to enhance pedestrian safety, increase accessibility, and bring sidewalks into compliance with ADA standards. Sidewalk Upgrades — Tequesta Drive • Location: Tequesta Drive from Mars Avenue to US-1 (north and south sides) • Scope of work: o Widening existing sidewalks from 4' to 5' o Increasing sidewalk depth to 6" at 3,500 PSI for durability o Installing ADA-compliant mats at all intersecting streets Sidewalk Repairs — Riverside Drive • Location: Riverside Drive (north of Tequesta Drive, within Village limits) • Scope of work: o Replacing damaged sidewalk sections Accessible Pedestrian Signals (APS) &ADA Curb Improvements The Village is coordinating with the Palm Beach County Engineering and Traffic Signalization Department to install APS devices (Audible Pedestrian Signals) for visually impaired individuals at the intersection of Tequesta Drive and Seabrook Road. • Upgrades include: o APS devices at all four corners o Modifications to curbs and ramps for full ADA compliance Funding & Budget Allocation • Sidewalk Improvements Account: 303-210-663.652 • Current account balance: $170,000 • Cost for APS devices and curb modifications: $37,560.00 • Remaining funds to be used for: o Sidewalk improvements on Tequesta Drive o Sidewalk improvements on Riverside Drive Supporting Documents: • Power Point Presentation This document and any attachments may be reproduced upon request in an alternative format by completing our Accessibility Feedback Form, sending an e-mail to the Village Clerk or calling 561- 768-0443.
