SUBJECT: Seabrook Rd. Tree Trimming
About a month ago trees along Seabrook Rd. in front of Tequesta Gardens were trimmed away
from the powerlines. I'm assuming the trimming is conducted by FPL or their contractor. Is
there an approved methodology for trimming trees that are growing directly beneath or within a
few feet of the powerlines?
The trees were trimmed into a V-shape or shaped to one side to avoid the powerlines (Pictures
Below). I have seen this in many areas around Tequesta and other municipalities. I am not an
arborist and know very little about this subject, but it seems that this methodology would:
1. reduce the lifespan of the tree 2. create an unstable or compromised tree that would be more
susceptible to damage during a storm. Some of these compromised trees hang over the
parking lot of Tequesta Gardens.
A concerned resident of Tequesta Gardens recently brought this to my attention.
