OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA
May 6, 1981
A Special Council Meeting of the Council of the Village
of Tequesta , was held at 5:00 P.M. , Wednesday, May 6, 1981
in the Village Hall, 357 Tequesta Drive, Tequesta , Florida.
Councilmembers present were Brown, Cook, Little and Stoddard.
Mapes was out of town when the Special Council Meeting was
called. Also present were Robert Harp, Village Manager and
Cyrese Colbert, Village Clerk.
Vice-Mayor Stoddard called the meeting to order. The
Village Manager explained that the South Florida Water
Management Distrist has declared a water emergency and
directed all public and private utilities, golf courses,
persons on wells for potable water and irrigation water to
reduce their usage by ten percent (100) . The Village
Manager also informed Council that if there is no substantial
rainfall by the first of next week, the S .F.W.M.D. expects
to order a twenty--five percent (25%) decrease in water usage.
The Village Manager and the Water Department Superintendent
recommeded that certain action be taken to restrict or curtail
water usage as set forth in Section 18-22 of the Village Code.

They also recommended that the Puilding *Department be
advised not to issue any permits until such time as the
South Florida Water Management District reseind s its emergency
order.
The Village Manager told Council that the water use
restrictions should remain in effect until such time as the
South Florida Water Management District declares the existing
emergency to be over.
The Village Manager and Water Department Superintendent
believes- the 10% reduction would be obtained by restricting the
watering days to 3 days a week.
The Council discussed the recommendations and suggestions.
Little moved, "to declare an emergency water situation
and to impose the provision of Chapter 18, Water, Article II,
Conservation of Water in Emergency Situations. We have been
informed by the Water Management District that we have an

emergency situation we will go along with Mr. Harp 's recommendation
of watering days, Monday, Wednesday,and Fridays. If we do
not see a depletion in our draw-downs to meet the requirement
of the 100, Mr. Harp, Village Manager, will have the authority
to curtail it to whatever days we have to , to make the
requirements set by the Water Management District'.'. Cook
seconded and vote on the motion was:

Cook -for
Little -for
Stoddard -against
and therefore the motion was passed and adopted. Vice-Mayor Stoddard
voted against the motion because he feels the Tequesta Country
Club should be given more time until the Maintenance Superintendent
could get back into town so the clocks and sprinklers could
be set properly as not to destroy the golf course.
Brown moved, "to curtail issuance of permitting of wells
and irrigation systems until the emergency is over". Little
seconded and vote on the motion was:

and therefore the motion was passed and adopted.
The meeting was adjourned at 5 :46 P.M.
