Councilmembers resent were : Brown, Cook, Ma s and Stoddard. Also present ere Robert Harp, Village M ager, Cyrese Colbert, Village C erk and John C. Randol , Village Attorney. he purpose his meeting was to discuss Gee & Jenson 's Prelims Dort- Evaluation of the Potential for Raw Water Supply Development for the Village of Tequesta , ha_ y, 1981. Heidi Vandor, Hydrogeologist with Gee & Jenson and John McKune, Gee & Jenson were present to present the report to Council. Ms. Vandor opened the meeting by presenting charts and graphs to Council of Gee & Jenson 's findings and reviewed the Executive Summary of the report. In 1978 the Village of Tequesta contracted Gee & Jenson Engineers to begin an evaluation of our wellifields and potential for supplying the Village 's potable demand. Before that time we had USGS do the evalutions and monitoring. Gee & Jenson found that the existing monitoring network was providing erroneous water level and quality information due to poor well construction and lack of adequate maintenance. Gee & Jenson 's testing found there is in fact a significant freshwater zone underlying the eastern peninsula. There is a potential for withdrawing up to 2. 88 MGD of potable water on the eastern peninsula providing strict operating and management practices are implemented. Ms. Vandor told Council that the north half of the western peninsular appears to have significant water supply development potential. Gee & Jenson believes there are several _options available to the Village. The first was that the Village can continue to purchase their raw water from the Town of Jupiter Water System supplementing only peak demands with their own wellfields. Second, the Village can continue to purchase water from Jupiter and supplement any future demands with Tequesta 's well. field. The purchase price from Jupiter would remain the same. Third, the Village could anticipate long-term projected demands by having an in-depth knowledge of their existing wellfield system. Gee & Jenson believes that by developing additional sources of supply in the North West area the Village has the rapacity of 05-1c)--81 -02 providing all of their demands through the year 2000 and maintaining the connection with the Town of Jupiter Water System for meeting peak demands and emergency use. Ms. Vandor also reviewed the programs that the Village should have for wellfield rehabilitation. Council discussed at length with themselves and several residents what the Village should do as to the enlarging of the franchise and service area. There was discussion of the possibility of acquiring Jupiter Island Water Company. It was the concensus of Council that the enlarging of the franchise area or the acquiring of any new water system should be kept in the background for present. The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 P.M. 4Cy se Colbert
