Florida Bicycle Month
WHEREAS residents and visitors of the Village of Tequesta engage in bicycling as a practical form of
transportation and a valuable means of physical activity and recreation; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Bicycle Association designates March as Florida Bicycle Month, and Palm Beach County
recognizes this observance locally; and
WHEREAS Florida Bicycle Month features fitness activities, educational programs, races, commuting
opportunities, and charity events for riders of all ages and abilities at parks and locations throughout Palm Beach
County; and
WHEREAS, recognition of Florida Bicycle Month raises awareness of bicycling and promotes physical activity,
healthy lifestyles, and bicycling as a viable transportation option; and
WHEREAS, the Palm Beach Metropolitan Planning Organization plans, supports, and recommends projects that
improve bicycle access and safety as well as promotes community education efforts to enhance safe bicycling
practices; and
WHEREAS, bicycle-friendly communities contribute to improved public health, quality of life, economic vitality,
tourism,traffic safety, and student outcomes, while reducing congestion and wear on local roadways; and
WHEREAS, electric bicycles are an increasingly popular mode of transportation, Palm Beach County encourages
all road users to share the roadway responsibly and encourages organizations to promote safety through
education and training; and
WHEREAS, Palm Beach County has an expanding network of designated and enhanced bicycle facilities totaling
approximately 300 miles, and several local municipalities have adopted Complete Streets policies, advancing a
safe, connected, and accessible transportation system for bicyclists of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA does herby recognize the month of
March, 2026, as: Florida Bicycle Month.
In Witness Whereof, we have here with set our hand and caused to be affixed the Seal of the Village of
Tequesta this 12t" day of March 2026.
